Thanksgiving

Before Thanksgiving Break, we had fun learning about different Native American Tribes in America, and creating our own village. Each child chose a job in the community and created a teepee to live in, a canoe to fish in, and fire to cook with. After the village was finished, we made head dresses a Native American name. Some examples were: Tall Flower, Fast Arrow, One Who Shows Kindness, and Ku-Wa- Ku, which means "little chief."  We love incorporating Social Studies and History in our classroom!

Election Day

On November 6th room 103 participated in Election Day along with the rest of America! We learned about voting, about the secret ballot, and a tiny bit about each candidate. We held our own election in class, and the kids had a great time!

50th Day of School Sock Hop!

I am a bit behind (as usual!) but on Friday November 2nd we celebrated 50 Fantastic Days in First Grade! How do you celebrate the 50th day of school you say? Well what better way than a 50's sock hop! We dressed in 50's attire, took off our shoes and bunny hopped our way to the Gym. The kids had a blast doing the hand jive, the stroll and hoola hooping! We also enjoyed a yummy 50's treat- Root Beer Floats! All in all it was fun to go back in time and celebrate ( I must say- I love the cat eye glasses!) hehe! Love those little cuties!
